It started out as a day filled with good intentions. You’ve invited your friends over and now you’re attempting to rustle up a great home-cooked meal to celebrate the holiday season. You’ve scoured all the latest cookbooks to find the perfect recipes and bought all the best ingredients. You’ve spared no expense for the wine, the centerpiece, and the decorations. You just want the day to be perfect and your friends to be proud of you! The turkey’s stuffed, the cranberry sauce is chilled and the potatoes are ready to boil. Everything is set to go. Now if only you’d spent some time learning how to use your oven…I guess it’s the effort that counts right?

Christmas Eve just wouldn’t be the same without leaving a little something out for Santa. A special treat just to show how much we appreciate the effort the jolly guy puts in every year – our way of just saying thanks! Sometimes it’s milk and cookies – sometimes it’s chardonnay and expensive Belgian chocolates. Really Santa should be happy with whatever he gets…after all, it is free. But what’s the poor old guy going to do when he discovers more than he bargained for? He wasn’t expecting that kind of “Hoe, hoe, hoe”…

Trimming the Christmas tree is one of the most time-honored traditions. You carefully lay out all the exquisite decorations you’ve collected over the years – each one with its special meaning and each one with its special and dedicated place on the tree. You invite your friends over for some drinks, some appetizers and generally just to share in the warmth of the holiday season. But sometimes those drinks make your guests feel a little too warm and fuzzy and they attempt to sabotage your efforts to have the prettiest, most beautiful and perfect tree on the block. Is there such a thing as having too much Christmas spirit? (Or drinking too many Christmas spirits is the better question).
